FOURTH EDITION OF CHRIS IHIDERO’S STORYSTORY TO HOLD DURING LAGOS FILM ACADEMY’S TRAINING WEEK IN EARLY JULY, LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE

Chris Ihidero has announced the fourth edition of the now-anticipated StoryStory Masterclass series; which will hold on the 8th and 9th of July, during the Lagos Film Academy’s Training Week, which is from the 8th of July to the 12th of July, 2019.

The Lagos Film Academy is a leading non-profit organization seeking to address crucial skill gaps in the creative industries.

The workshop that focuses on the art of storytelling will feature faculty of seasoned professionals versed in the art of storytelling across several media including advertising, screenwriting, poetry, software, photography, visual arts, editing and others. So far over 150 people have been trained.

StoryStory is open to only young up and coming creative practitioners who have made an attempt to tell stories; who tell stories through social campaigns, screen writing, audio-visual content producers, content directors, drama series producers, poetry, software, digital marketing consultants and feature editors regardless of how successful those attempts have turned out.

Professionals and industry leaders including Steve Babaeko (advertising guru), Ayeni Adekunle (PR and media expert), Victor Sanchez Aghahowa (TV show writer and creator), Femi Ogunsanwo (filmmaker/showrunner), Emmanuel Uduma (producer and filmmaker) and so on have been some of the facilitators in previous masterclasses since the series began in 2015 at the British Council in Lagos.

StoryStory is organised by LFA in conjunction with Chris Ihidero, a leading filmmaker, TV producer/director whom has mastered the craft of storytelling and the workshop is delivered to empower and share knowledge to a class of thirty-five (35) participants, following a rigorous selection process.

Chris Ihidero who has been telling stories professionally for 23 years started out as a theatre actor and director, and he has worked as a theatre artist, broadcaster, newspaper columnist, magazine editor and university lecturer.

In 2015, he was a producer on the ground-breaking HIV and behavioural change focused drama series Shuga Series 4, and he resumed this role on Shuga Series 6 in 2017. Ihidero has directed over 100 hours of TV drama, including Fuji House of Commotion, Tempest and Now we are Married. He has also made two short films, including Big Daddy (2012), a film about rape.

“I am thrilled to be working with the Lagos Film Academy again to deliver an explosive week of training and learning for the young and mid-career creatives in our midst,” Mr. Ihidero notes. “Learning from experts and training the next batch of creatives is how an industry grows.”

Participants of both StoryStory and TVWM will also combine for a Q&A session on storytelling for 3hrs on Saturday July 13th. Chris Ihidero will be joined by other notable filmmakers for this session. This will then be followed by a cocktail.
