3 storey building collapse in Ibadan Street, Ebute Meta, Lagos, Many trapped

We have recorded another building collapse in Lagos state. A three-story building has just collapsed on Ibadan Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos with many occupants of the building trapped under the rubble.

“BUILDING COLLAPSE: An alert of a collapsed of a three storey building by 32 Ibadan Street, Ebute Meta was received at 21:48 hours, Sunday with Lagos Fire Service, LASBCA, LASAMBUS and others are already at the scene.
Search and Rescue ongoing, ” Jubril Gawat tweeted.

Another Twitter user, Amstel2011 had also called out the Lagos state government’s emergency number over negligence.

“What is the whole essence of having an emergency numbers in lagos that goes on holiday
112 and 767. It’s a shame, that in a matter of emergency help could not be reached. There is a building collapse in Ebute Meta tonight and we couldn’t get through to the emergency,” he wrote.

 

As at the time of this post, at least 11 persons have been rescued and first time responders are on the scene.
The cause of the collapse is not unknown.
