Barely a year after, fans of Afro-pop singer, Bella Shmurda have slammed him for refusing Lagos State University’s (LASU) offer for him to return to school.

HOW IT STARTED

He tweeted after some twitter users posted lyrics from his breakout track Vision 2020 –

Mama call me say, “Chinedu is balling”
What are you doing, son you’re dulling
Four years in LASU is really nothing
Better get that money, son we’re starving
Omotena tell me say she don get belle
Mame, papa must to no know hear
I’ve been thinking oh, I’ve been thinking oh

Saying he probably would still be broke if he had stayed in school. One twitter user even hinted that according to the lyrics above,  Bella Shmurda’s mum subtly mounted pressure on him to make it quick and likened his dropping out to face music to the ‘get rich quick’ craze that has driven a lot of Nigerian youth to committing several dastardly acts that including physically harming their loved ones for ephemeral wealth.

This caught the attention of the singer’s school, Lagos State University, and they reached out to him to come and complete his degree program.
