Liam Payne, former One Direction Star, dies at 31 after fall from Buenos Aires hotel
Liam Payne, former member of the popular boyband One Direction, tragically died at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel window in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at a hotel located on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighborhood, according to local police.
Authorities were alerted to the scene after receiving a 911 call reporting an aggressive individual, possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The police statement did not confirm the person involved as Payne.
Payne, who had recently been seen attending a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan in Argentina on October 2, was best known as a member of One Direction. The group, which included Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, shot to international fame after forming on the UK version of The X Factor in 2010.
After One Direction’s hiatus in 2015, Payne pursued a solo career, releasing his debut album LP1 in 2019. He had been working on a new album and had planned a tour in 2023, which was postponed due to a kidney infection.
Payne leaves behind a son, Bear, born in 2017, whom he shared with former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole. In a 2023 video, Payne expressed his deep affection for his son, describing him as “awesome” and “a wonder.”
The world mourns the loss of the talented musician, who had made an indelible mark on pop music.
