Coca-Cola Celebrates it’s 70 years anniversary in Nigeria. The Coca-Cola System, which comprises Coca-Cola Nigeria and its bottling partner, Nigerian Bottling Company, recently celebrated 70 years of excellence in Nigeria. The anniversary event, which was attended by dignitaries and stakeholders from different sectors, took place on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Eko Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria.
As part of continued efforts to upskill and empower women across underserved communities in Nigeria, Coca-Cola’s women empowerment programme tagged “Catalyst for Change 2.0” has recorded the graduation of 1000 women in Alausa, Ikeja.
In commemoration of World Cleanup Day, The Coca-Cola System, comprising Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), recently partnered with RecyclePoints to facilitate clean-up activities in streets and community markets across Lagos, Asaba, Kaduna, Owerri, and Abuja. A total of 557 kilograms of plastic waste was recovered. This outreach sought to sensitize and educate market women on how a waste-free environment can foster better customer interactions and increasing sales. The group also enlightened residents on the environmental and financial benefits of waste pick-up and recycling in their various communities.
In commemoration of World Environment Day, Coca-Cola Nigeria, through recycling initiatives across Nigeria, reiterated its commitment to the support of environmental protection and sustainability in Nigeria.
With Nigeria reported to generate some 32 million tonnes of waste per year, of which 2.5 million tonnes is plastic waste, the country has always had a worrisome waste problem. This developing issue is further exacerbated by the country’s disposal, recycling and waste management system which has proven to be inefficient in dealing with both plastic and non-plastic waste, most of which end up in landfills, sewers, beaches and water bodies.

The training which was conducted in partnership with the Karis and Eleos Foundation was designed to aid economic recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
World Cleanup Day, celebrated globally on September 19, 2020, saw diverse people come together to combat the solid waste problem through numerous community cleanup activities. To mark this day, Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited partnered with two local NGOs – African Cleanup Initiative and Mental and Environmental Development Initiative for Children (MEDIC), on cleanup activities across Lagos and Ibadan.
