PATORANKING RETURNS WITH AFRO-DANCEHALL JAM ‘SHAKE THAT’ FEATURING RUGER

INFECTIOUS SUMMER-READY OFFERING SERVES AS THIRD SINGLE FROM PATORANKING’S FORTHCOMING FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM

Following on from his powerful roots reggae collaboration ‘African Soldier’ with GRAMMY Award-winning dancehall legend Buju Banton earlier in the year, which garnered rave reviews and acclaim from the likes of Billboard Africa, Jamaica Observer, The Tropixs and GRM Daily, award-winning Nigerian musician and global music star PATORANKING is back with a vibrant feel-good summer anthem titled ‘SHAKE THAT’ featuring one of afrobeats’ most distinctive voices RUGER. Taken from his forthcoming fifth studio album and offering a different dimension to Patoranking’s artistry than ‘African Soldier’ and ‘No Jonze’ before that, ‘Shake That’ is an infectious summer-ready jam built for dancefloors, summer parties and everywhere good energy can travel. Driven by its infectious call-and-response hook, the single sees Patoranking and Ruger celebrating attraction, movement and the magnetic confidence of a woman who lights up the room the moment she steps onto the dancefloor.

Afro-dancehall royalty Patoranking brings his signature patois-inflected bounce and effortless melodic charm to ‘Shake That’, while afrobeats star Ruger adds a playful, charismatic verse that sharpens the track’s swagger and dancefloor chemistry. Together, they turn the track into a dynamic exchange between two of African music’s most iconic voices, with accompanying visuals directed by Forbes 30 Under 30 filmmaker Dammy Twitch (Davido, Yung Bleu, DaBaby). Speaking about the inspiration behind his ‘Shake That’ single, Patoranking says, “After ‘African Soldier’, I wanted to give my fans something for the summer. ‘Shake That’ is that energy. Ruger brought the vibes and it was nice linking with Ikel Marvelous again, he did the ‘Suh Different’ intro, and he’s on the intro on this too. Yeah man, I’m excited about this one. This summer we are dancing, I’m back on the road again, I’ll be in the UK and across Europe this summer, yeah catch me and the band, we outside”.

With its bright rhythms, flirtatious energy, confident sense of ease, and instantly memorable refrains, ‘Shake That’ captures the thrills of being pulled into the moment by a woman whose presence takes over the room and changes the atmosphere. Produced by GRAMMY Award-nominated beatsmith Yungwillis (Davido, Asake, Olamide) and Dwillsharmony (Wizkid, Shallipopi, Seyi Vibez), the track blends romance, appreciation, party energy and club-ready pulse into a bright and addictive collaboration designed to make bodies move. ‘Shake That’ also comes hot on the heels of Patoranking recently announcing his ‘Fire 2026’ European summer tour, which will take him and the acclaimed Fire Republik Band across the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium, including an exclusive headline billing at the prestigious Barbican in June, with more dates and countries to be added.

MORE ABOUT PATORANKING
Patoranking is an award-winning Nigerian musician whose sound is global, his story grounded, and his mission bigger than music. Born and raised in Lagos, he forged his own lane from “nothing to something”, as first declared on ‘Alubarika’, by fusing afrobeats, reggae and dancehall into his music, not as a trend but from his lived experience in the streets of Ebute-Metta in Lagos. A cultural ambassador for the continent, he is one of Afro-dancehall’s most defining voices with era-shaping hits like ‘My Woman My Everything’ and ‘Babylon’, and culture-shifting collaborations with Major Lazer, Popcaan, Bryson Tiller, and the late great Bob Marley. He comes with a much-coveted catalogue that boasts over 2 billion global streams, and Billboard-charting projects, from his 2016 debut album God Over Everything to 2023’s World Best. On stage, he has taken that message to over 50 countries, from London’s O2 Arena and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to the FIFA World Cup Fan Festival in Qatar.
Beyond the charts, Patoranking stands at the intersection of craft and purpose. Through his charity, the Patoranking Foundation, he has directly impacted over 5,000 young people, awarded 250+ scholarships across primary, secondary and university levels, launched tech scholarships, and unveiled a new community football turf in Lagos – work that he advances as the United Nation Development Programme’s Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Africa, championing youth innovation, entrepreneurship and its Sustainable Development Goals. As a musician, Patoranking is bold and street-rooted, equal parts cultural guardian and global African voice, as reflected in critical acclaim from tastemakers such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, CNN, and Vogue, as well as major award recognition from The Headies, MTV Africa Music Awards, and AFRIMMA, and a two-billion-plus streaming footprint that travels across Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, North America, and Latin America.
