Beatrice Ige, popularly known as Dr Bea, the sister of Lagos socialite and nightclub owner Pretty Mike, has expressed relief and excitement following his release from detention.

Pretty Mike, whose real name is Mike Eze, was granted bail in the sum of N50m by the Federal High Court in Lagos after being arraigned on alleged drug-related offences connected to his Victoria Island nightclub, Proxy.
In a series of Instagram stories shared on Thursday shortly after his release, Dr Bea wrote, “Now I can relax,” before revealing the lengths she went to ensure her brother returned home.
She stated, “I was supposed to travel out of the country today, but all my plans were aborted because I said Pretty Mike must be sleeping on his big bed before I leave.”
Hinting that Proxy Nightclub would soon reopen, she added, “We are not upset with the law. We upheld our peace so the government can understand there is still civility in some Nigerians. Noise doesn’t make things happen; strategy does. We are not angry despite the allegations. Now that I am involved, Proxy is coming back better.”
Dr Bea also shared a light-hearted clip of herself and Pretty Mike sharing affectionate moments after his release. According to her, the first thing he requested after spending 12 days in detention was a mirror, to check his face and make sure he still looked good.
Pretty Mike’s troubles began after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency raided Proxy Nightclub, alleging that the venue was being used to store 169 cylinders of nitrous oxide (popularly known as laughing gas) and 200 grams of cannabis sativa.
Shortly after, the Federal High Court in Lagos granted an order for the interim forfeiture of the property.
Speaking with Saturday Beats, a senior NDLEA official dismissed claims that the arrest was influenced by business competitors.
The source said, “This was not about rivalry. The intelligence was gathered from social media. They publicly circulated fliers advertising it as a drug-themed party. Nobody set them up; they gave themselves away.”
The official added that over 200 persons were present at the club on the night of the arrest, Sunday, October 26, and advised members of the public to stay away from drug parties.
Efforts by Saturday Beats to reach Pretty Mike were unsuccessful as of press time.
