In a thrilling announcement that has sent shockwaves of excitement across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, organisers of the popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija, have revealed that the upcoming All-Stars edition will offer an unprecedented cash prize of 120 million Naira and other gifts to the ultimate winner. This revelation was made by MultiChoice at a press briefing held in Lagos on Friday.

After seven successful seasons, the show is set to bring back some of the most unforgettable and beloved contestants for an all-star showdown that will premiere on July 23, 2023. Since the last ‘Level Up’ edition, fans of the hit reality series have been buzzing with anticipation, eager to see new housemates once again enter the famous Big Brother house. This time, they’ll experience an even better show in the ‘Biggieverse’.

The winner of this season’s ‘All-Star’ edition will not only have another opportunity to captivate the hearts of millions but will also walk away with life-changing rewards. The 120 million Naira cash prize has shattered all previous records, making it the biggest cash reward in the history of Big Brother Naija and all African reality shows.

The rewards have continued to increase yearly for the past few years, going from a $100,000 (about ₦13,000,000) grand prize in the first season in 2006 to a ₦25 million cash prize in 2017, when it returned after an 11-year hiatus. The year’s winner, Efe Michael Ejeba, also won an SUV with his prize. In 2019, one of the fan’s favourite winners, Mercy Eke, won a ₦60 million grand prize that included a ₦30 million cash prize, a new SUV, and several other gifts.  Just last year, Phyna Otabor took home ₦100 million in grand prizes that included a ₦50 million cash prize, a new SUV from Innoson Motors, several trips, and home appliances, among other gifts.

During the press conference, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, Dr Busola Tejumola, said, “We are excited to bring you a refreshed season of Big Brother Naija. We certainly are. I am sure you all have noticed the buzz on social media and all the speculations about the eight season of this well-loved-show – we certainly have- and we can confirm to you all today; YES, the 8th season of Big Brother Naija is the All-Star Edition.
