Sam Dede returns for sequel of Nollywood classic ‘Issakaba’
Veteran actor Sam Dede is set to return to his popular role as ‘Ebube’ in an upcoming sequel of the 2001 action-packed Nollywood thriller ‘Issakaba’.
The Nollywood actor recently teased the sequel on his Instagram account.
“Issakaba!!! The Myth returns. A river does not flow through a forest without bringing down trees. Men with evil minds lurk in the dark. But….. Justice is mine,” he wrote.
Lancelot Imasuen, the original director, will also oversee the new project.
Earlier this month, Imasuen took to social media to promote the second round of auditions for the film in Asaba, Delta.
‘Issakaba’ is an anagram of Bakassi.The film is based on the true story of the Bakassi Boys, a grassroots vigilante group founded in 1998 to tackle chronic crime in Nigeria’s South-East area.
In the film, Ebube leads the Issakaba boys on a mission to combat the armed robbery that plagues their village, using mystical charms and innovative tactics to bring fast justice.
The 2001 five-part film starred Chiwetalu Agu, Pete Eneh, Amaechi Muonagor, Susan Obi, Mike Ogundu, and John Okafor.
The cast also includes Andy Chukwu, Zulu Adigwe, Diewait Ikpechukwu, Remmy Ohajianya, Emeka Nwafor, Tom Njemanze, Uche Odoputa, and Emeka Ani.
While production on the sequel continues, the release date is yet to be announced.
